It’s a beautiful day (10th May 2013) we start our journey around 5.00 p.m. from Nittambuwa. Reached to Colombo Fort & got a train to Bandarawela. Train departure from Colombo fort around 8.00 p.m. There were 9 members from Team “LakRoo” it was a marvelous journey we ever feel the beauty of Badulla night mail train. We reached to Bandarawela around 6.30 a.m. on 11th May 2013.

After having our breakfast from the canteen on Bandarawela Railway station we had a chat with the peoples in Bandarawela. And we got a contact of a Lorry driver. He agreed to join with us for the journey for LKR 4,500. Our root was Poonagala, Koslanda, Wellawaya, Ella & back to Bandarawela

We start our journey near the Bandarawela station through Poonagala road & we passed around 20 KM and reached to Koslanda junction. We passed another 2 KM through the Koslanda road & reached to the junction. There was 1.5 KM from the junction to Pilkington Point which is the first destination of our journey.

We paid LKR 250 for the entrance. Pilkington point is one of most beautiful place in Bandarawela which can feel the area of 180 degree angle. The place is maintained by Poonagala Tea State. Our team was surprised with the view & got the superb feeling.

There is a road from Pilkington Point towards top of the mountain. There is a nice location name Millennium Point. The road towards millennium point is really damaged. There are 2 KM for the destination. The location is the best place to feel the area of 360 degree angle. It was really nice place. You will never forget the experience of the area.

We reached again to junction on Koslanda road & passed 3 KM towards Koslanda & reached another junction & got the road toward Makkaldeniya. There is path through the Jungle to Kuda Diyaluma Water fall and the top of Diyaluma. There is no vehicle road to Kuda Diyaluma & it’s just a path. But the place is really beautiful. Also the Top of Diyaluma is another beautiful place with wide view.

We back to Koslanda road & reached to bottom of Diyaluma waterfall which is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It’s difficult to pass the place in rainy season without get wet. It’s drizzling surrounding area and the feeling is really nice.

We had our lunch in Wellawaya & start to visit another water fall name Rawana Ella. It’s on Ella, Wellawaya Road and the place also really attractive.

Last destination in our journey was Demodara Nine Arc Bridge. It is the amazing bridge on entire rail road in Sri Lanka. The peoples, who love to Sri Lankan Railway, should get the feeling of the beauty of this bridge.

We came back to the Station Bandarawela around 7.00 p.m. on same day & had our dinner from Bandarawela town. We got night mail train to Colombo around 9.30 p.m. The train normally reached to Bandarawela around 7.30 p.m. but it was delay on the day.

Our teams “LakRoo” enjoy well with this marvelous journey and we invite you to get this superb experience and feel the beauty of our mother land.

Hope to see you soon with another beauty & Adventure journey

Thank You
